I’m a medical student and writer with a background in both science and literature. I’m interested in the intersections of health, popular media and diversity.
Topics I’ve covered include: pop culture, literature, diversity and representation.
I’m currently based in the Philadelphia area. My hobbies include: exploring and eating my way through whatever city I’m in, making DIY projects and going down internet rabbit holes.
A LITTLE BIT MORE
I started writing about books in 2009. I love books and their ability to reflect and connect us all. However, I knew that more accurate representation, especially of Asian Americans, are needed so I focused on writing about representation in media. Since 2009, my writing has appeared in Los Angeles Review of Books, Zora, and more.
In 2017, I rebranded my blog to By Jessica Yang to focus more on the things in life that matter– vignettes of life, representation and media.
Apart from my interests in representation, diversity, and literature, I’m also a medical student with a background in science and research.
Currently, I’m interested in intersectionalities– diversity & media, health & representation and more.
